Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk expressed his disappointment following his side's 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Anfield.

The Dutchman was speaking after a thrilling encounter between the two Premier League giants, in which Liverpool twice took the lead, only to be pegged back by a resilient United side. Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah had put the Reds in a commanding position, but strikes from Lisandro Martínez and Amad Diallo ensured that the points were shared.

"It's a disappointing result," van Dijk told reporters. "We dominated large parts of the game and created a lot of chances. To concede two goals at home is frustrating."

The experienced defender highlighted the importance of converting more of their chances. "We need to be more clinical in front of goal," he added. "If we had taken our chances, we could have won the game comfortably."

Van Dijk also acknowledged the quality of Manchester United's performance. "They are a good team and they made it difficult for us," he said. "They defended well and took their chances when they came."

The draw leaves Liverpool in a strong position in the Premier League table, but van Dijk believes that there is still room for improvement. "We need to keep working hard and try to win our next game," he said.
