Many believed he could become an epochal striker

Many strikers have passed through Anfield with the promise and expectation of becoming great stars of the team, but achieving it is not easy, because it is the biggest team in England and the pressure is different from any other team in the Premier League. Andy Carroll is a clear example of that, as the English striker arrived at Liverpool with the promise of being a big star and was never able to live up to expectations.

Carroll impressed everyone when he played for Newcastle United, including the then Reds board, who decided to invest in him and paid 41 million euros, an extremely high amount for that time -2011- in the hope that Andy would become the benchmark of our club's attack. However, in 58 games with the Liverpool shirt, Carroll scored just 11 goals, which generated the disappointment of the fans and sentenced his departure from the team to never return to play again after only one year of activity at Anfield.

Although during his time at Liverpool the team won a Carling Cup, his time at Anfield is otherwise little remembered despite the fact that he arrived as one of the great promises of English football. Tall, strong and fast, it seemed that Andy Carroll had everything to be a legend of our team, but it seems that the shirt was simply too big for him.

After his departure from Liverpool, Andy Carroll has played for four different teams, in which he always fought to avoid relegation or to get promoted to the Premier League, however he has never managed to be as decisive as expected, and in none of the teams in which he has played he has even managed to reach 40 goals.

How does Andy Carroll see himself today?

Currently, Andy Carroll is still playing for Reading in the Championship, the second division of English football. At 34 years old and 1.93 m tall, Carroll has managed to keep in good physical shape over the years, although we can already see him with a thick beard and his characteristic long hair, always tied back.
