The football world has once again been surprised by a new takeover rumour, this time involving Liverpool, the current leader of the Premier League. According to his father, Errol Musk, tech magnate Elon Musk has shown interest in acquiring the English club. The news has generated great excitement among fans and has put the current owner, Fenway Sports Club (FSG), in the spotlight.

Statements from Elon Musk's Father:

During an interview on Times Radio, Errol Musk was asked about the possibility of his son, owner of companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, and the social network X (formerly Twitter), making an offer for Liverpool. His response was emphatic: "He (Elon Musk) would like to, yes. Obviously. Anyone would want to, and so would I!". These statements have confirmed the magnate's interest in the club, although no formal offer has been presented so far.

Family Ties with Liverpool:

Elon Musk's interest in Liverpool could have family roots. According to Errol Musk, the magnate's paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born in Liverpool before emigrating to South Africa. This family link could be an important factor in Musk's motivation to acquire the club.

Caution Against a Possible Price Increase:

Errol Musk's first reaction to the question about his son's interest was cautious. He expressed concern that the current owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Club, might "raise the price" upon learning of Elon Musk's interest. This caution suggests that discussions about a possible purchase are still in an early stage.

Background with Manchester United:

This is not the first time Elon Musk has been linked to the purchase of a football club. In 2022, the magnate joked on social media about the possibility of acquiring Manchester United after a team defeat. "This is a long-running joke on Twitter. I'm not buying any sports teams. Though, if any team, it would be Manchester United. They were my favourite team as a kid," Musk wrote at the time. Although it was a joke on that occasion, his father's recent statements about Liverpool suggest a more serious interest.

Liverpool's Future:

Currently, Liverpool is experiencing a great sporting moment, leading the Premier League. However, the possible arrival of Elon Musk as owner could mark a new era for the club, with a financial injection that could further boost its growth. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the magnate's interest has generated great expectation in the football world and among Liverpool fans.
