Real Madrid are still working on possible signings. The board is not only putting on the table those profiles that are scouted week after week or even with which contact has been established. There is also a long list of footballers who, through their agents or intermediaries, are offering themselves to the white team. One of the latest to do so is one of the best centre-backs of the season, Virgil Van Dijk.
According to Relevo, the agents of the 33-year-old Dutchman contacted Madrid's management to inform them of the centre-back's willingness to join the Bernabéu from the summer of 2025. They applied to reinforce an area of the pitch in which they have suffered too many problems in recent years with injuries such as those of Militao or Alaba.
However, the proposal was rejected by the Chamartín club. Although he would arrive on a free transfer and after a season in which he is shining with Liverpool, it was decided to decline interest in favour of other profiles that are better suited to what is being sought. Now, Van Dijk is close to renewing his contract with the Reds. A succulent option but one that was not taken into account due to age and conditions.
Also, a demonstration of confidence in what is at home. Real Madrid has Rüdiger, Militao and Alaba. With the last two there is confidence that the work done is correct and that they can reach their highest level again. Also with a Raúl Asencio who has shown that he has the level to be part of the first team. As Relevo reported, the Canary Islander has earned the renewal, although all parties are taking it calmly.
And in the meantime, the market is being looked at in search of players to reinforce the centre of the defence. In 2025 or 2026 the club plans to sign a player for the position, but at the moment what they like the most is too expensive. Lukeba, Van de Ven, Gvardiol... profiles that convince from a tactical and technical point of view but with prices that are too high.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti is handling things with aplomb. They have Tchouameni, who has performed well as a defender, and other players who can adapt, such as Carvajal. Added to this are the centre-backs, who still have football to play, and the club hopes that this will be enough of a buffer and that they won't have to spend large sums on signings.
