Jamie Carragher talks about Curtis Jones

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has criticized Curtis Jones performance in the recent 2-2 draw against Manchester United, suggesting that the young midfielder needs to simplify his game.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Carragher was particularly critical of Jones’ decision-making on the ball. "I thought Curtis Jones was poor," Carragher said. "The biggest issue with Curtis Jones when he’s not playing well is that he holds onto the ball too long. He’s not a superstar in terms of beating players and playing intelligent passes; he’s more about driving forward quickly and pressing. As soon as he holds onto the ball for half a second longer, it’s not arrogance, it’s just naivety."

Carragher also questioned the tactics employed by Liverpool manager Arne Slot, suggesting that the team might have benefited from a more direct approach. "I think there were times when Liverpool could have been a bit more direct," he added. "Sometimes you just need to get the ball forward quickly and cause problems in the opposition’s box."
