While a number of players have been selected by Klopp and his people as serious candidates to join Liverpool next season, a few more have voluntarily put their hands up in search of a chance on Merseyside, with current Chelsea player Raheem Sterling's desire to return to the Reds and defend the club that gave him his first steps in the Premier League coming as a complete surprise.
One of TheAthletic's correspondents has revealed that the Jamaican-born attacker is keen to return to Liverpool in the summer transfer window after a poor season with Chelsea, but to his misfortune, Klopp's refusal was clear and immediate, not least because the Reds have no need for an extra attacking player at the moment.
He thought he was Liverpool's best, Klopp sacked him, now he meets a sad end
New era, Bajcetic's renewal and eight players to leave as Klopp decides to save Liverpool
Although Sterling's quality has not been of a very high standard since his departure from Liverpool in the 2014-2015 season, the Reds boss is not convinced that Sterling is the real solution to all their problems on the pitch today, as even if Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are still recovering, the presence of Cody Gakpo already fills the need in that area, making the addition of a player with similar qualities to the Dutchman unnecessary.
Perhaps denying Sterling his return to Liverpool was the wrong decision on Klopp's part, because although today the attacking sector has several players with great goalscoring qualities, the slow return of Jota and Diaz could cause problems in the future, not to mention that Gakpo has not worked in the best way and that Salah could show some fatigue due to having to be the main player who plays almost every game.
