MOHAMED SALAH: DECEMBER KING, WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH AWARD
Mohamed Salah continues to make history with Liverpool. The Egyptian forward has been named Men’s Player of the Month for December after a resounding victory in the fan poll conducted on LiverpoolFC.com. This marks the third consecutive month Salah has won the award, in addition to being recognised in August.
The Reds' No. 11 expressed his gratitude upon receiving the accolade:“Thank you very much. We had a good month. I think we secured some important wins, which is the most important thing. Also, I always work to win games and help the team achieve victories,” Salah told LiverpoolFC.com.
In December, Salah contributed directly to 15 goals, scoring eight and providing seven assists in just seven matches. His goal tally included strikes against Girona, Manchester City, Newcastle United (two goals), Tottenham Hotspur (two goals), Leicester City, and West Ham United.
Moreover, the 32-year-old climbed to fourth place on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list, further solidifying his legacy at the club.
When asked about the standout moment of December, Salah highlighted the match against Manchester City as particularly special:“We got some great wins that month. I think I’d choose the Man City game because of how we handled it, the pressure, and also because we played against an incredible team. So maybe Cody’s [Gakpo] assist was the highlight of the month,” Salah said.
In December, Salah reached the milestone of 20 goals for the eighth consecutive season, surpassing Ian Rush’s previous club record. His current 2024-25 season stats are remarkable: 22 goals and 17 assists in 31 matches across all competitions.
Despite his achievements, Salah remains grounded:“I just try to focus on the games. I feel I’m an important part of the team, and helping my teammates to always play better is the most important thing for me,” he said.
When asked if this is his best season, Salah avoided comparisons:“People will always debate whether it’s this season, the previous one, or even my first season. I don’t know. But I don’t think too much about that as long as we keep winning and things go well for me,” he concluded.
With every game, Mohamed Salah continues to prove why he’s an iconic figure for Liverpool. His consistency, scoring ability, and team-first mentality make him a cornerstone of Jürgen Klopp’s squad. The Reds, powered by Salah, remain firmly focused on chasing new titles and adding more success to their illustrious history.
