Liverpool remain in freefall 20 days ahead of Champions League last 16 clash with Real Madrid

Liverpool are still in free fall. Twenty days before the last 16 of the Champions League against Real Madrid they still can't get out of the hole. Eliminated from the Carabao and the FA Cup and ninth in the league, they are in the most delicate situation of the season.

The Reds lost four days ago against Brighton in the last 32 of the FA Cup after a goal by Mitoma in the 92nd minute (2-1). They are also 10 points off fourth place in the Premier League and have just one win against Wolves from six games played in 2023.

"We are in a situation where we constantly want to take the next step and we feel bad because we don't manage to take it," Klopp admitted. The German coach also said he does not believe he will be sacked and that he "hasn't become a bad manager overnight". Still, the truth is that Liverpool could be out of the Champions League for the first time in seven years.

New American owners

On the possibility of Liverpool getting new owners soon, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that FSG would be interested in selling to other American businessmen. He says that Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment would be interested in bidding for Liverpool. Josh Harris and David S. Blitzer are the owners of e.g. the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL's New Jersey Devils.
