Among the desperation that Liverpool had to get out of the negative patch that they were going through just a few months ago, one of the most damaged players in this situation was the offensive reinforcement, Darwin Núñez, Uruguayan player from Benfica who arrived at the Reds in the summer as the attacker who would become in a couple of seasons the scorer of the team,  He had to take on this important role from very early on in an atypical season where injuries and bad spells flooded Anfield, causing the pressure to exceed the South American's capabilities and he was criticised for his failings.

Although a fan base as demanding as that of the Reds is not one of those that usually waits for a player to take his time to consolidate himself, as the games went on they understood a little more about the reason for the signing of Núñez and what Jurgen Klopp's plan is with the Uruguayan, changing at least in these last few games their way of being with their attacker by showing their support even when he has shown certain failings throughout his participation against Leicester City.

Despite struggling to make his return to Premier League action and having yet to find the net in three games, the South American striker has been somewhat of a factor in the team's continued goal threat, providing an assist against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and playing a part in the second goal in the win over Leicester City, with Nunez continuing to show at times why Klopp took notice of him some time ago.

It is true that the team's present is completely different to the one they experienced during August and part of September, being the winning streak in the Premier League a reason for the fans to be satisfied today to the extent of showing that support to those who need it most, because if there is a setback and they go back on the improvements shown, perhaps those applauses will turn into new criticism or boos for a Darwin Núñez who is still inexperienced as a player in the PL and Liverpool.

Liverpool fans back Nunez

Despite being very brief, the same fans of the institution were complicit in how Núñez came to have for a moment better statistics in front of goal than Erling Haaland, demonstrating that if this player is taken calmly by a coach who specialises in creating complete monsters of the sport, his quality could soon be comparable to those of the elite, justifying at that time the exorbitant price the Reds paid for his card.
