Action returns to the 'Big Island' and this weekend the Reds host a slumping Leeds United side who have the worst winless run in the Premier League, with the last win coming against Chelsea FC on 21 August. Since then the Peacocks have lost six and drawn two games, unlike Liverpool who have won four of their last five games, including the UEFA Champions League.

The importance of this victory lies in the elements that Jürgen Klopp has at his disposal, such is the case of the return of the Spanish Thiago Alcántara who missed the last two games due to an ear infection, but on Thursday he returned to training alongside his teammates. Alongside him, Jordan Henderson is expected to come off the bench for the Reds to get a couple of minutes.

Klopp would then play a 4-4-2 formation, starting with a back four of Robertson, van Dijk, Gomez and Alexander-Arnold, moving to a midfield of Carvalho, Thiago, Fabinho and Elliott, and closing the attack with two strikers, Nunez and Salah, who are on fire after scoring in the Merseyside side's 3-0 win at Anfield against FC Ajax.

Although the Red's were narrowly beaten at the City Ground by Nottingham Forest last time out, the statistics now play in their favour, as when Anfield Road is involved, Liverpool play differently, with a 29-game unbeaten run in the EPL (22 wins and 7 draws), accumulating a massive goal difference of +57 during this span.

Klopp to test again

Bookmakers and pundits are tipping Liverpool as favourites, to which the head coach said ahead of the game he was calm and respectful of Leeds United, saying that although they have not won, this makes them more dangerous. The weekend's game would be the first of the Pool's final five matches before the break for the 22nd edition of the World Cup in Qatar.
