The Liverpool club are trying to survive this season

A historic English football club is living its lowest hours; it is second last in the Premier League standings and is also facing a strong financial crisis that brings it close to being sold, and it is none other than Everton. The Liverpool club are trying to survive this season and have already sacked manager Frank Lampard and tried to get Marcelo Bielsa to take the Toffees' reins, but the Argentinian declined the job. That is not the only setback for the team, because they are building a new stadium, which will open its doors in 2024 and will cost 500 million pounds sterling, that added to the expensive signings that have not contributed to the sporting club caused Farhad Moshiri, owner of Everton, put the team up for sale for a price close to 500 million pounds, as reported by the British newspaper The Guardian.

Moshiri clarified that he is looking for investors and not to sell the team, because the outlay of the new building had a great impact on the coffers of the Toffees. Since last season, Everton have been fighting to stay in the English top flight and the fans are already desperate because of the team's dire situation. This has prompted several demonstrations by the Liverpool club's supporters against the board and they are calling on Moshiri to sack chairman Bill Kenwright and chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale.

In fact, the club's directors opted not to attend Goodison Park (home of Everton) when they played Southampton on 14 January. Kenwright and Barrett-Baxendale argued that going to the ground was against their physical integrity because of the tense relationship with the fans. Everton were last relegated in the 1950-51 campaign and since 1954, the Toffees have always been in the top tier of English football. That reflects how worrying the situation at the club is.

Liverpool cost 4 billion

FSG bought Liverpool for just 300 million pounds ($343.5 million) in 2010, but the club could now be worth around 4 billion pounds ($4.58 billion). Liverpool has a bigger stadium and a more illustrious history as one of the most successful teams in world football, having won the Champions League six times.
