Although the 2022-2023 season did not end the way we all wanted it to, there is no denying that our Liverpool has experienced a recent period of success and triumphs in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Part of that success is due to the great signings that the club made during these years, however not all of them were successful.

It is no secret that one of the greatest legends for Anfield, if not the greatest of them, is Steven Gerrard. Our eternal captain wore the Liverpool shirt through thick and thin. He led us through the Miracle of Istanbul and has been arguably the greatest player in the club's history.

That is why when a new reinforcement arrives and is labeled as "the new Gerrard" or "Gerrard's heir", the pressure usually ends up bringing them down and they tend to be players who never live up to the expectations of being compared to a true legend.

Such is the case of Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo, who arrived at Liverpool as one of the most promising players in the world, having played for Juventus and FC Barcelona. However, at Anfield he was never able to show a good level and ended up leaving through the back door.

Arthur Melo's fate

Arthur Melo was never able to establish himself at Liverpool and that is why Jürgen Klopp decided to send him back to Juventus. However, the Italian club would have told him that he is not in the coach's plans so the 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder would be looking for a new team. Everything indicates that it will be Aston Villa who will keep him, as apparently there are no other teams interested in Arthur.
