This is how Jorg Schmadtke, architect of Liverpool's reinforcements, works

The mastermind behind the Reds

The mastermind behind the Reds

Perhaps one of the least exciting reinforcements to Liverpool's squad over the past year has been in the sporting department. The arrival of Jorg Schmadtke on Merseyside has brought some changes to Jurgen Klopp's squad, and in some ways he has been a great sounding board to consult with in order to make Mac Allister and Szoboszlai their new stars of the midfield.

Unsurprisingly, part of the bidding for players such as Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo was also part of his planning alongside Jurgen Klopp, and although these pair of players were a basket case in terms of their recruitment, this is not an impediment to the manager continuing to search according to the needs of the squad at the moment.

The biggest gamble that Schmadtke is making in the last few hours has to do with Wataru Endo, a midfielder from Stuttgart who looks like one of the consolidated jewels of the Japanese midfield, leaving Jorg from the path of hiring young players to bet on the experience of an element with a high international background. This situation had already been shown by this sporting manager in other clubs in Germany, resulting in a resounding success with Aachen who managed with his help to take them to the cup final and achieve promotion to the German top flight.

Leaving aside what was shown on the pitch, Liverpool did make a good move in getting this man as their new sporting director, gaining a great analyst who dominated Germany as he wanted, making all his clubs in which he was, great institutions that reached to some extent the glory, hoping that in this new stage with the Reds the magic is not lost, getting it right for the moment with the new additions of which there are no complaints but good reviews.
