Nat Phillips swapped his native Bolton for Liverpool in 2016, joining the Under-23 (Reserves) team. In 2019, with no opportunities with the seniors, he had to leave in search of minutes and so arrived at Stuttgart, where he was one of the key players in the team's promotion to the Bundesliga. Few expected Liverpool to have to play last season with Phillips as their most experienced centre-back, but circumstances have revealed the Boltonian to be a very reliable alternative.

This term, with Van Dijk and Gomez back, the playing time is less for him, but Nat Phillips has already presented his credentials should anyone need a solid, efficient centre-back. Knowing your limitations enhances your strengths and in that, Klopp's secret weapon is a master. Only eight Liverpool first-team players have been available for every competitive game this season. Adrian, Nat Phillips, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Fabinho, James Milner, Harvey Elliott and Mohamed Salah.

Adrian San Miguel (Seville, 1987) is the clear example that a team is not just 11 players. "We have the most competitive squad in the world," he boasts. Togetherness is strength and the former Betis and West Ham player has also played his part, on and off the pitch, in this Liverpool team that has won everything. But they want more: 'Jürgen completely changed the mentality and philosophy with his idea of vertical football, of non-stop, of pressing and counter-pressing from 1' to 90'.

He has designed a team in his own image and has turned several players into superstars. In addition, he has created a very united dressing room capable of pulling the team through the most difficult moments. When the season is over we will have to put pros and cons on the table. If an interesting offer arrives that fills me with enthusiasm, I have in mind to evaluate it with Liverpool. I think I still have a lot to contribute on and off the pitch.

Phillips and Adrián, the ones despised by Klopp

In an injury-riddled Liverpool, Jürgen Klopp has decided to drop Adrian and Nat Phillips, both of whom have had no medical problems and have been available so far this season. Adrian has found it very difficult due to the level of Alisson, which is why the Spaniard has appeared on the bench throughout the campaign, but has not played a single minute. While Phillips, despite the poor performances of Joe Gomez and injuries to Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konaté, has also been without minutes.
