Solly March's strike sunk Liverpool, beaten 3-0 with a brace and a clubman's assist enough for Brighton to overtake their opponents in the standings and send them five points clear of the final European places. After losing 3-1 to Brentford last time out and drawing 2-2 with Wolves in the FA Cup a few days ago to set up a replay, they dropped points again on Saturday to underline their poor form on the pitch.

That place, for the moment, belongs to Tottenham. Liverpool, little by little, are slipping away from it.  Especially, after their last two setbacks, which showed that their reaction of four consecutive victories (Leicester, Aston Villa, Southampton and Tottenham) were a disguise to hide the erratic course of the men led by Jürgen Klopp.

Liverpool have been hit with a cold shower of reality. It's not good, it's not working, and that's twenty Premier League games in. They still have time to react, but the reality is that at the halfway point of the season, they are not even in the European places. The title has long since been forgotten.

New owners

In the face of this debacle, information has been leaked in recent hours about the possible arrival of new owners from Qatar. In view of this, Twitter user @KIopptinho put an ideal scenario with the signings that could arrive: Absolute scenes we end this January window with new owners from Qatar, Caicedo, Gakpo and Koné, all be it while we're in 10th place. Red men's marching our way to the UCL trophy and Top 4.
