Lazar Markovic is considered one of Liverpool's worst signings.  Before joining the Reds, the Serbian was one of the most promising young players in European football. At 17, he captivated his Partizan Belgrade teammates, including Brazilian Eduardo, with his technical skills. "He was an extremely quick, skilful guy, and he was a good finisher. His one-on-one was very good, he stood out too much. He was considered a phenomenon in Serbia, everyone said they would sell him," the Brazilian told ESPN.

He also played for Anderlecht and Hull before returning to Liverpool, where he was only used in the youth team. Under Jürgen Klopp, who arrived at the club in October 2015, Markovic did not take the field. He was on the bench for just one game - a defeat to Leicester City in the League Cup in September 2017. The Liverpool Echo newspaper calculated that in six years the Reds spent more than €35m on the player, including transfer and salary. Following the end of his link with Klopp's side, Markovic spent a few months at Fulham before returning to Partizan. After a difficult start, the striker spent three seasons at the club and won another Serbian Championship.

In the middle of last year, Markovic moved to Gazisehir Gaziantep, who are 12th in the Turkish league. At the age of 28, it will be very difficult for the former starlet to return to the big stages of Europe. "Markovic couldn't play for other clubs, unfortunately.
