Things happen for a reason. There are players who have been very close to joining Liverpool and for one reason or another don't end up at Anfield. Time finally gives answers on the "what if" and it seems that on this occasion, Jürgen Klopp made the right decision, proving once again why he is one of the best managers in the world.

Jürgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool in 2015 after shocking the football world with Borussia Dortmund. At that time, very few would have imagined that the German tactician would become one of the best, if not the best, manager Liverpool has had in its history, as he led us to win a Premier League title after 30 years and also made us champions of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

Throughout those years in which Klopp has been in charge of our Liverpool, we have had in the team great players like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino, who formed one of the most dangerous tridents in European football. However, in 2018, Jürgen Klopp had the chance to complement the team's attack with one of the most promising players of those years, Frenchman Nabil Fekir.

Fekir was going through the best moment of his career at Lyon, and was very close to arrive at Anfield as a star reinforcement in the summer of 2018, but in the end Jürgen Klopp decided that they should not sign him and passed up what many believed was a golden opportunity, but now time has proven the German tactician right.

The reason Klopp didn't want Nabil Fekir

When Nabil Fekir underwent medical tests to finalize his transfer to Liverpool, the medical staff along with Jürgen Klopp decided it was best not to sign him due to the ACL injury he had suffered three years earlier. In the end Klopp was right, as Fekir was never able to make it at a major club in Europe and has suffered with the injury issue on a recurring basis, despite having a very exciting talent.
