The third game had to be one of revenge. After Liverpool knocked Wolverhampton out of the FA Cup, Wolves exacted revenge with a 3-0 thrashing in the competition that hurts the Reds the most, the Premier League. It seems that this time Julen Lopetegui did his job of studying Jürgen Klopp's team in detail, and after closing down all the spaces, his players found a way to hurt their opponents, with two goals in 15 minutes.

After five minutes, Hee Chan beat the defenders to the ball and his shot was deflected by Joel Matip, who tried to turn the ball behind for a corner, but it eventually found its way into the net for the 1-0 lead. Wolves' second goal came after 11 minutes, following a set piece outside the box; the action took a couple of bounces and a second cross from Cunha that ended with a defender's rebound that left the ball for defender Dowson, who powerfully slotted home inside the box to make it 2-0.

The 3-0 scoreline came from a great counter-attack by Traoré, who also came on in the second half and put the Reds' backline in trouble. In the 71st minute, the Spaniard carried the ball into the box and played a delayed pass that was met by Neves, who cut inside the six-yard box and slotted past Alisson.

Cleanliness in the squad

According to Express Sports, these are the five players Jurgen Klopp should drop from the squad: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Thiago and Darwin Nunez. This is with a view to building a stronger squad and making room for more quality players to arrive.
