Bobby's renewal with the Red's, who completed seven years at Anfield, up in the air

The start of a new year brings with it great news and excitement, and football is the big stage that unites a large section of supporters. On Merseyside they are celebrating the arrival of Cody Gakpo, who will not only bring his talent, but will also provide some serious competition in the attack, which for now lacks punch with the departures of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino, the latter whose future is still up in the air.

Firmino, who suffered a muscle injury in mid-December, still does not know when he could return to the squad for Jürgen Klopp, who mistakenly uncovered the Brazilian's future at Anfield. In an interview the German coach said negotiations with the 31-year-old striker are ongoing. "I want Roberto Firmino to stay at Liverpool and sign new deal with us," the manager said.

Bobby, who arrived on Merseyside in 2015 from German football, has been an important part of Liverpool's last golden era that included the Champions League and the coveted Premier League, where along with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, they made up a fearsome trident in England and Europe. Firmino knows his future is secure, whether he renews with the Red's or tries a new challenge in his career.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, the option of Firmino leaving for Serie A is highly possible, as Juventus are very interested in the Brazilian and would put up to 19 million euros on the table to have him in this transfer window, or wait six more months, and thus negotiate directly with him. Although with the recent injury, the Vecchia Signora would be seriously thinking of withdrawing this offer and go for another striker.

Firmino is close to renewing

In 2018, Roberto Firmino renewed for four more years, with the summer of 2023 being the conclusion of the signing of the Brazilian academy graduate from Figuerense. These weeks will be key for Klopp, who wants to convince the board to keep Bobby for at least one more season, but with the arrival of the Dutch gem Gakpo, things in attack are getting more complicated.
