There is one player who has been a flop for the Reds and would cause the club to make a loss

When the transfer of Naby Keita to Liverpool from RB Leipzig was made official a few years ago, the English club were happy and happy with the signing of the midfielder, predicting a new change in that sector of the field in which the Guinean would be the new benchmark for the coming seasons, gradually diluting that idea as the games made this player a recurrent on the bench due to injuries.

It seems that not all of Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp's renovations worked out well a few years ago, as Keita fell by the wayside while Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Fabinho advanced by leaps and bounds, leaving him as a complete unknown quantity as the season wore on.

2023 has only just begun and Firmino has already received his first piece of bad news from Klopp

Without a recurring activity due to being injured or recovering for a large part of the season, the German striker's patience came to an end in 2022, as the need for men in midfield to make up for the countless departures, Keita could not help with the task as he was also in need of medical help, stopping his contract renewal to leave him at the end of his contract as a free agent with the possibility of deciding his future.

At first, the £52 million that had been paid for the player seemed to be nothing with how profitable he promised to be in just a few seasons, but the reality is that the Reds were wrong and that figure was increasing more and more as the seasons went by, with 117 appearances in red not being enough to cover all the capital that had been spent to have him in his best physical form, which only became apparent in 2018.

Keita has not performed

With that minimal contribution to the squad, Keita became one of the Liverpool players leading the way in the upcoming transfer window, with talk that Liverpool may be able to salvage something from the Guinean if Borussia Dortmund decide to accept him as part of the deal for Jude Bellingham. PSG are also said to be likely to make him their player for the summer, with Juventus entering the fray, a team that did something similar not so long ago with Arthur Melo, who is now on loan at Anfield.
