The 2022-2023 season ended in disappointment for Liverpool, after the team missed the target of qualifying for the Champions League. After this, Jürgen Klopp decided to make a renewal of the squad and gave departure to great players in the recent era of the club to prioritize the arrival of young players.

The German tactician has a long list of names that he has marked as possible reinforcements for the next season. Klopp's top priority was to bring in 24-year-old Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who won the World Cup with Argentina's national team. After confirming his arrival, the Reds board has begun to explore new candidates.

Among the list of players on Klopp's radar are promising stars of world football, such as the son of French legend Lilian Thuram, Képhren Thuram, with whom Liverpool already have a personal agreement to make him the second reinforcement for next season.

However, Thuram's arrival could mean that other targets could not land at Anfield because although the priority of Klopp and his coaching staff is to sign midfielders, they cannot forget the rest of the positions on the field. That is why, with the imminent arrival of Thuram, his compatriot Manu Koné could come off the board's targets for this summer.

Koné, an "unlikely" target

Borussia Mönchengladbach's board would be willing to sell Manu Koné, as they are aware of the interest that their player has aroused in big clubs in Europe. However, according to Sky Sports, Liverpool's priority would be Thuram, so Koné would have been put on the back burner.
