Academy player is leaving to Swindon Town

This tuesday it became official the transfer of Tom Clayton, an Academy player, to League Two side Swindon Town. Clayton arrived on Liverpool when he was an U9 player, if you could call an eight year old a football player. Liverpool built him as a man and as a football player, and now it's time for him to gain experience on another team.

Clayton can play as a defender in the center position or as a center midfielder. His talent got him the recognition of Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard when he got to coach him at U18 level. Then, Clayton's career continued and he got to the U23 team while being an international for Scotland as well.

However, and as expected, he wants to gain more experience in professional football and to break the mold to become a figure in other teams other than Liverpool's Academy and that's why he is joining League Two team Swindon Town, who played semi finals last season and were unfortunately eliminated.

Nice future ahead

Tom is a great player. With Liverpool's U23 team he played 56 league games and he scored four goals and contributed with 2 assists. He is a reliable defender and everyone at Liverpool is sure that great things are in his way.
