Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool are no less than 10 points away from the Champions League zone. The same goes for Chelsea, who face the Reds at Anfield this Saturday. Two of the 'Big Six' of English football are going through an ordeal in the Premiership, aggravated in the case of Liverpool by the image offered last Saturday in the 3-0 win over Brighton. Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, in the dry dock and on Saturday also Darwin Nunez. At the back, Virgil van Dijk is also injured. In midfield, Arthur Melo.

Klopp himself says Liverpool's success in 2021-22 is why his players are paying for the effort of last season, in which the Reds played 63 games. They played in three finals, two won (the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, both against Chelsea) and one lost (the Champions League final against Real Madrid).
