After a dismal start, the Red's are forced to make up ground in the Premier League

Liverpool are not going through their best moment in the Premier League, where after nine rounds they are tenth overall with 10 points, the product of four draws, two defeats and two wins, a situation that has the fans not happy at all, as in the recent clash between teams in the Top 4, they ended up losing to Arsenal, something that had not happened since 2020 when Arteta's team won the 1/8 of the English Football League (EFL).

To that Gary Neville, a legend of fierce rivals Manchester United, took the floor and addressed Liverpool's state of mind, where according to the former England defender, the Red's will finish outside the top four in the Premier League, with no chance of UEFA Champions League football, as "physical depression" has hampered the Merseyside side's performances this season.

Liverpool win over Rangers puts Manchester United legend to shame

Despite the win over Rangers, Klopp was furious with the situation

Neville spoke to The Overlap Fan where he did not deny the excitement he experienced as a fan at the denouement of last season, when Manchester City and Liverpool were battling for the Premier League title on every matchday, acknowledging that the Champions League final between Real Madrid and the Reds weakened the Anfield side, who were left with no weapons to lift the league.

"I have praised Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp over the last five or six years for the levels they have reached. They have been off the scale, but I felt before the game the fans expected to win," Neville said. He added that the first two years in the German's era in charge were frantic. They weren't really a polished team, they were just brilliant to watch and exciting to analyse.

The England international said that with the level Arsenal and Tottenham have shown so far, the Champions League places are drastically reduced, as Manchester City will remain in the top flight and Chelsea could snatch the final place from the Reds in an atypical tournament, as the World Cup will be played in winter rather than summer, putting a double strain on players who have had no rest.
