Romeo Lavia will not join Liverpool even though the Reds' offer for him would have been higher

Another tough setback for our Liverpool. Another low blow for Jürgen Klopp. The renowned journalist of The Athletic, David Ornstein, has reported that finally Romeo Lavia will not arrive at Anfield as he has preferred to join Chelsea, which leaves our Liverpool in a very unfavorable position as a few days ago exactly the same thing happened with Moises Caicedo.

According to Ornstein's information, the 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder has already made his decision and that would be to join Chelsea instead of Liverpool, which was said to be his priority. However, it seems that the Caicedo saga has had more consequences than Liverpool expected, as it seems that Lavia changed his mind when he saw that Liverpool preferred the Ecuadorian.

In recent hours it had been reported that the Anfield board had made an offer of £60 million to sign Lavia, which would have been accepted by Southampton. But now, it was the player himself who has said no to our club who will now have to see not only one, but two of their big targets leave for Stamford Bridge, this despite having been willing to spend large amounts of money for them.

This is what Chelsea's offer to take Lavia was like

As already mentioned, Liverpool had offered £60 million to Southampton to sign Romeo Lavia, however, given the player's refusal to come to Anfield, the Saints would have accepted Chelsea's offer which according to David Ornstein would have been £50 million plus add-ons. In addition, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Blues would have offered a longer contract and more money to Lavia to convince him. The announcement is expected to be made official in the coming days.
