Liverpool's board have set aside a significant amount of money for the upcoming winter transfer window. If Jürgen Klopp so desires, the board will be on the hunt for a top player. 90 M€. That's how much Liverpool spent during the last summer transfer window. The Reds showed clear financial muscle to recruit Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez (€75m), Portuguese playmaker Fabio Carvalho (€5.9m), Scottish full-back Calvin Ramsay (€4.9m) and Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo (on loan for €4m).

Although this is a considerable sum, the Anfield Road outfit are not ruling out another big-money move during the winter transfer window. Indeed, sources close to the owners have confirmed to Football Insider that the club have the capacity to make "a big-money January signing". It will all be down to Jürgen Klopp.

If the German coach deems it necessary to strengthen the squad, the board will not hesitate to use the money he has in reserve. At this stage, it does seem likely that the English club will make a move. His side are a lowly ninth in the Premier League, and in the Champions League, although they have managed to get back on track with two consecutive victories, they suffered a serious setback on the opening day when they lost 4-1 to Napoli.

As for the identity of this big signing, the aforementioned media outlet does not offer many clues. Although it alludes to the long-awaited Jude Bellingham, it also makes it clear that signing him will be very difficult due to the existing competition. Moreover, getting Borussia Dortmund to agree to the departure of a player of this calibre in the middle of the season does not seem easy either.

The sale of Naby Keita could also represent a good income.

Arrived at Liverpool as a star, with the Reds paying €60m for his signature, Naby Keïta's performance has not been as expected. The Guinean midfielder shone in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, but his arrival in the Premier League has been complicated. The African has missed more than 60 games for the Reds and has yet to make his debut this season.
