The Reds want to go into their Champions League clash with Real Madrid with the best possible squad. "It's not about money, it's about planning. The process is going on, that's clear. I am positive about it, I think it will be good for us. I have a pretty close relationship with the owners and I've always known what we could do and what we couldn't do.

We have a number of conversations, now we have to see what we will do. There is nothing decided about what we will do in the winter. We have to study it, we have time and we follow the market every day. There is no player who scores goals and we don't know him. If someone makes good saves we also know him. That's the situation, and that's what will happen, that's for sure".

"We don't participate in the rest of the process, but that's fine. We have to focus on football, which is our job". Last Friday in the press room, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp openly admitted that the English club are not ruling out making new signings in the winter transfer window. The Reds have endured an inconsistent start to the season and both the coaching staff and board appear keen to react before it is too late.

It seems clear that the Anfield Road outfit want to go into their Champions League last-16 clash with Real Madrid in the best possible shape. In fact, the website Defensa Central goes one step further today and adds that the German manager wants to bring in two new players to bolster his squad and, in some way, surprise Real Madrid.

Klopp wants a striker and a defender

The task is not easy. The winter transfer window does not usually offer too many opportunities and teams looking to strengthen their squad are often forced to resort to big money to sign players. However, for weeks now, media reports on the islands have been suggesting that the Reds have the potential to make at least one big signing in January. The issue to watch is that they want a striker who could be Portugal's Rafael Leao and a defender who could be Benfica's Antonio Silva, both of whom would be FSG's ideal signings before they leave the club.
