The German coach will have to solve a number of problems before Saturday's game.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that four members of his Liverpool squad will be missing for the game against Brighton at the weekend, but elsewhere the Reds' injury problems are diminishing. Luis Diaz and five Liverpool team-mates are in contention for the 2022 Ballon d'Or.

The Seagulls arrive at Anfield for Liverpool's first Premier League game in 4 weeks, with games at home to Wolves and away to Chelsea postponed following the death of the Queen. On Saturday 01 October the ball will roll.

Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all left out before the international break, and all four remain out of action for the visit of new boss Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton. Scotland captain Robertson was forced to miss his side's Nations League games with a knee problem, but when asked how long the left-back will be out for, Klopp was hopeful.

Elsewhere, injury problems in the Reds squad have become less severe, while Klopp also allayed concerns that attackers Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz will not be available for the weekend after international exertions. All three were not seen in training on Thursday, but Klopp said: "Diaz and Jota? Yes, they came back from international duty and it's like always [after] a long flight, I didn't see them yet, I heard they are fine.

Darwin, [missed training] it was a precaution after the games, the same for Diogo, that's all, I think." Finally, centre-back Ibrahima Konate could be in the squad to face Brighton after he returns to training. Klopp's side are about to embark on a run of 13 games in 42 days in one of the most hectic periods of their season, and Klopp knows he has a lot of ground to make up after a poor start to the season.
