He persists despite not being able to adapt

Liverpool is still looking for reinforcements and therefore there are players who will no longer have a recurrent participation, and that is because the coach Jürgen Klopp during this preseason has made adjustments in the positions of his players by putting Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as fullbacks, or the case of Trent Alexander Arnold as a midfielder among other cases, to which Gomez and Matip seem to be the most affected.

In the case of Joel Matip has been a player whose participation has been going from more to less, and his performance is no longer the same as when he arrived at Anfield, so he would be living his last moments as a Liverpool player since his contract ends next summer, so the Cameroonian player will have to be thinking about his new stage away from Anfield and the Reds despite currently being in search of a holding midfielder will also have to think about a central defender.

Joel Matip arrived in 2016 from FC Schalke 04, leading to a successful career at Anfield, winning everything with the Reds, however, his level has been in decline due to constant injuries so he has been relegated to the bench and in the last season his participation has been minimal since last year he lived his best season with the Reds accumulating 43 appearances in the 2021/22, the opposite case in the previous seasons.

As well as a six-pointer, what is needed at Anfield?

While Liverpool have among their priorities the signing of a holding midfielder to try to make up for the loss of Fabinho and Henderson, they also need a defender, as they will require a future replacement for Van Dijk and someone who can help the Reds with their defensive problems, as during pre-season the defence has looked very weak and in fact it was on display in the game against Bayer Munich where they lost and much of the blame was placed on the defence.
