At Anfield they need to change and Jürgen explained his feelings and intentions for the future

At Anfield they need to change and Jürgen explained his feelings and intentions for the future. One thing is clear: Klopp is not leaving Liverpool. Even so, he is announcing changes for the future. He explained that he is not being "too loyal" to players who have been at the club for a long time and who are underperforming, meaning that he is not using those players just because of name or seniority, but that the lack of replacements because of the long injury list means he has to keep picking them.

I'm loyal, I think everybody should be loyal, but I'm 'too' loyal. You have a good player who did a lot of good things in the past and then, maybe, in your mind you think: 'That's it for him now'. If you can bring in another player to replace him, then it makes sense on both sides. If you can't bring anyone in, then you can't take anyone out of the XI, that's the situation," Klopp said.

The German coach recalled a similar situation when he left Borussia Dortmund in 2015: "When I left Dortmund I said: 'Something has to change here'. There the situation was different, but in a way it's similar. Either I leave... or a lot of other things change," said Klopp, who renewed until 2026 and his position has never been in doubt for FSG (Fenway Sports Group). "As far as I know, from what I've heard, I'm not leaving. So that means there might be a point where we might have to change other things and we'll see. But it's something for the future, like in the summer, not now."

Goodbye Firmino, hello Bellingham

With that in mind, there have been calls for an extra midfield player in the Liverpool camp for some time now. While all indications are that Firmino, who won everything with Liverpool, will not be re-signed, Jude Bellingham is the name that is being bandied about on a daily basis. At Anfield they are confident of his arrival, regardless of the price that Dortmund could ask (between 100 and 150 million euros) and that Christian Falk, of the Bild, explained in December in The Anfield Wrap that "his father Mark, his mother Denise and agent Mark Bennett are really focused on Liverpool".
