Liverpool have already shown an interest in the versatile Portuguese midfielder this summer and have been keeping a close eye on his situation. Fulham value Palhinha at around £70m, reflecting the quality and value the player brings to his current team. Joao Palhinha became one of the most prominent names during the last transfer window, thanks to his remarkable performances in the Premier League with Fulham, which attracted the attention of several high-calibre European clubs. Among them, Bayern Munich came very close to signing the talented Portuguese midfielder.

Palhinha even travelled to Germany in an attempt to complete the transfer, but Fulham were unable to find a replacement in time, which resulted in the deal falling through. As a result of this situation, Palhinha remained at Fulham and subsequently extended his contract until the summer of 2028, without including a break clause. This gives Fulham the freedom to demand a considerable sum for his transfer, with a valuation of £70m.

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation, especially after Bayern Munich failed to make a move after the transfer deadline expired. This has opened up the possibility that the Anfield outfit could complete the arrival of Palhinha, a player who has been on manager Jurgen Klopp's radar during the last transfer window. Although Liverpool had intended to sign either Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia, they failed to finalise either of those deals. Currently, Alexis Mac Allister plays the role of defensive midfielder, despite the addition of 30-year-old Wataru Endo.

Another Portuguese to Anfield

Liverpool's current situation highlights their urgent need to strengthen the number six position, and they believe Joao Palhinha would be a perfect fit due to his outstanding Premier League performances while in a Fulham shirt. While his contract does not include a break clause, it has been suggested that Fulham could be willing to let him go for a fee in the region of £70m. With £60m already set aside for the winter transfer window, Liverpool could be well positioned to push for Palhinha's services, possibly offloading a player or two in the process. The addition of Palhinha would be an important step in raising Liverpool's game in pursuit of their ambitious targets.
