Liverpool are not messing around and will be releasing places so that Anfield's new jewel, Cody Gakpo, can enjoy a big payday

Things at Anfield have just gone up a gear, as the arrival of Dutch gem Cody Gakpo has caused some things to change at Liverpool, which could soon change, as the heavy investment made by the board, where he won the race against other Premier League clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal, has led Klopp to make drastic decisions on the salary issue and get rid of six superstars from The Pool.

By 2023 The Pool cannot afford to renew or retain players who are out of contract - and even more so with a low level of play - to be exact there are six first-team stars who would no longer have a place in this season. The departure of these players gives Klopp a cushion to continue strengthening the team, as the German is still eyeing the Englishman Jude Bellingham, who is hoping to have the Borussia Dortmund player's yes for this year.

Starting in goal, it is well known that 35-year-old Spaniard Adrián's time at the club ends in 2023. The former Real Betis and West Ham United, arrived at Anfield in 2019 being the direct competition of Alisson Becker. Adrian in recent games has been relegated by the 24-year-old Irishman Caoimhim Kelleher, who has already won the place of substitute to the Iberian. He is joined by 36-year-old veteran James Milner, who is currently injured.

Milner has extended his contract for another year, but he and the fans know that the time to say goodbye has come. The Englishman hopes to be back by the end of January after a hamstring injury. Continuing in midfield is Guinea's Naby Keïta who, at 27 years of age, is just coming back from a long knee injury and a thigh pain that kept him out for a six-month spell.

Liverpool will have several departures

Another who would be ruled out would be Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has not convinced the fans, given the multiple opportunities that the 29-year-old Englishman has had in recent games. A similar case is that of 31-year-old Roberto Firmino, who after not going to Qatar with Brazil, has been in decline and is even injured without a return date. Finally there is the case of 26-year-old Arthur Melo, who has been a fiasco as injuries have kept him away from any activity in Klopp's team.
