The Dutchman is still waiting to score his first goal for the Reds, but has already struck a low blow against Chelsea

Liverpool's latest winter signing Cody Gakpo is ready to make his Premier League debut after making his debut for the Reds at the weekend in the FA Cup clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"He's very promising and he's fit," Klopp told a news conference on Friday (6 January). "The sessions are being very intense with him. I am very positive. Coming to a new league is always difficult, but I expect a positive impact."

Gakpo, after a great World Cup with the Netherlands, arrived at Liverpool for 42 million euros, with the aim of strengthening an attack depleted by the departures of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota. "Cody has already had a couple of full training sessions and it's a joy to see him. It's great to have a player who does things naturally and knows where the goal is. He's enjoying every minute.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink: “Jurgen Klopp chose Cody Gakpo because he's better value for money. Gakpo was £40million whereas Joao Felix is likely to cost £80-90 million. Gakpo is also a little bit younger, there's a lot of improvement in him and Klopp thinks that he is going to be a star. Gakpo isn't the finished article yet but he's going to be a star and I think he is more suitable for the English game."

Joao Felix is Chelsea's signing

With these words from Jimmy Floyd, Chelsea look ridiculous, as they are set to have Joao Felix as their star signing. The Portuguese will come to the Premier League to try to get the London minnows out of their slump, but he will have to do better than Cody Gakpo.
