Liverpool are back on the scene, and now face a new test

Liverpool are back on the scene, and now face a new test, playing Brighton Hove Albion on the coast in the FA Cup 1/16 Final where the club are the reigning champions, hence the importance of returning to winning ways, as The Pool are coming from a goalless Premier League draw against Chelsea FC, and before that they had two consecutive league defeats to their name.

The pressure has therefore fallen heavily on Liverpool's strikers, who will take to the Falmer Stadium pitch with the obligation to score, with Cody Gakpo being the player most singled out by the fans, as the Dutchman has accumulated more than 300 minutes without a goal, his last goal coming in the World Cup against hosts Qatar on 29 November, two months to the day.

Goodbye Gakpo, what Klopp had to say about his run without scoring

Given this situation, coach Jürgen Klopp cannot afford to continue to throw away the prestige of the club, so Gakpo's days would be numbered if he continues to miss in front of goal, and the Red's would end up signing another striker who can fill the gap left by injury Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino, who continue with their recovery process.

And recently, Foot Mercato announced that Liverpool are amongst a number of European sides keen on Montpellier's 18-year-old striker Elye Wahi, who is valued in excess of £26m. The Frenchman has left the Montpellier academy, which has set an exit price of around £20m for the player, who has a contract until 2025, and who admitted that he could fulfil the contract of the "Club Hérault".

Klopp thinks about Elye Wahi

Wahi declared to the French daily L'Equipe that for the moment, his head is at Montpelier. "We'll see what the future holds for me. At the end of the season, we'll talk about it with the people involved. There, I am focused on my club. But if I can stay until 2025 at MHSC, it would be with pleasure, but if a good offer comes along that suits the club, I will take it," said the striker.
