A new chapter in the rivalry between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is coming up, and fans will be able to enjoy it on Thursday 19 January. PSG will take on a mix of players from Al Nassr and Al Hilal in the Riyadh Season Cup. The special feature of this match will not only be the chance for Cristiano to make his debut for his new team, after his time at Manchester United, but it will also be a new opportunity for two of the best players who have made their mark on the last 15 years of international football to face each other.

The first time they met was in the 2007/2008 season in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, in a 0-0 draw between Barcelona and Manchester United. The last time football brought them together on the same pitch was in the Champions League group stage of the 2020/2021 season, with Juventus winning 3-0 away to Barcelona.

Firmino does not go with Cristiano

Ahead of the match that will mark Cristiano's debut in Saudi Arabia, Jurgen Klopp took a cheap shot at the Portuguese. At a press conference he said he wants Brazilian Roberto Firmino to stay at Liverpool and will push for his renewal. In recent days, it was reported that Al Nassr were interested in signing Bobby at Cristiano's request in order to have a talented strike partner, but it seems that they will not be able to fulfil the former Manchester United man's first whim.
