Sky Sports pundit and Manchester United legend Gary Neville had an unusual experience during a podcast recording when he was subjected to a submission hold by WWE superstar and fervent Liverpool supporter, Sheamus.

Gary Neville, known for his career at Manchester United and his current role as a sports commentator on Sky Sports, found himself in an uncommon situation when facing the strength of professional wrestler Sheamus. The encounter, which took place during the recording of The Overlap US podcast, took an unexpected turn when the Irish wrestler, a well-known Liverpool fan, decided to give Neville, nicknamed "The Weasel" for the occasion, a "little wrestling lesson".

From the beginning of the conversation, Sheamus made no secret of his sympathy for Liverpool, creating an atmosphere of comical tension with Neville, a Manchester United legend. After convincing Neville to lie on the floor, not without first mocking his Dolce and Gabbana shoes, Sheamus proceeded to execute a submission hold known as the Clover Leaf, bending Neville's knees and turning him face down.

Neville's reaction was one of genuine pain and discomfort. "S---! Bloody hell------ Jesus!", exclaimed the former footballer while being subjected to the hold. Sheamus, with a triumphant grin, replied: "Do you know I've wanted to do that since I was probably 12 or 14?".

Amidst the struggle, Sheamus demanded Neville acknowledge Liverpool's superiority and utter the phrase: "Liverpool are going to win the league!". Neville, with his characteristic competitive spirit, flatly refused, responding with a defiant "F--- Liverpool!". Sheamus's insistence continued, seeking Neville's confession: "Say it, Gary! Say it! Say Liverpool are number one!". Finally, after several minutes of banter, laughter from host Rebecca Lowe and a reluctant response from Neville, Sheamus released him from the hold.

Once released, Neville admitted to feeling pain in his neck and exclaimed: "He nearly broke my neck! Jesus!". The segment quickly went viral on social media, especially among Liverpool fans, who celebrated the moment with humorous comments such as "Who says football doesn't bring you joyful moments?".

This wasn't the only highlight of the encounter between Neville and Sheamus. Previously, the wrestler had performed one of his signature Brogue Kicks very close to Neville's face, forcing him to quickly move away.

Sheamus, with a successful career in WWE that includes four world championships, is currently preparing for the Royal Rumble event, scheduled for February 1st at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, a Royal Rumble match he already won in 2012.

Sheamus's support for Liverpool is well known. At a 2018 event in Manchester, he and his tag team partner Cesaro sported Liverpool colours amidst a predominantly Manchester United supporting audience, further provoking those present by singing the famous Liverpool anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone".
