After a low level and more injuries littered his professional career, Sturridge left Mereyside on loan in 2018 and played a season with West Brom before returning the following year and leaving Anfield for Turkish football with Trabzonspor, where he arrived as a free agent after not being re-signed by the board after six years of service. In his final season with the Reds, Daniel made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists in 818 minutes.

Now the 33-year-old has thrown away what little prestige he had by being the worst signing in Perth Glory's history, and in the words of the board, Sturridge has not worked out. "We had high hopes for him, but it just hasn't worked out. It's difficult for him to be offered a new contract at the end of the season," club CEO Tony Pignata told SEN's The Global Game.
