The Blues proved to be a team of global shortcomings

The Blues proved to be a team of global shortcomings

After Liverpool and Chelsea played out a goalless draw on matchday 21 of the Premier League, the debate over which institution had the least character on the pitch to take all three points is still raging, for just as the Reds failed to take advantage of their opponents' lack of coordination to beat them at home, the Blues are being criticised for failing to score against a team with serious footballing problems, with both sides putting on a laughable show that had its real spectacle in the stands.

Although a clash between the two sides can end with a spectacle similar to this season's, the fans of both sides know that the dispute from the stands is a separate issue, with Chelsea fans on this occasion finding themselves in an embarrassing situation, having used resources that insult not only those present but also those who suffered the unfortunate event at Hillsborough in 1989.

It is understood that there are at least 16 Blues fans who decided not to play fair in this chanting war and decided to use overly foul resources during the clash at Anfield, and it is reported that while these were removed by the stewards at some point during the match, the Reds are seeking to have such acts punished appropriately. It should be noted that this is not the first occasion on which Liverpool have been involved in this type of chanting against them, as there have been a couple of times this season when the Hillsborough tragedy has come to the fore.

Help does not seem to be forthcoming for Liverpool

As the Reds seek to stamp out such foul play from the terraces by trying to hold constant dialogue with the Merseyside authorities, the Spirit of Shankly supporters' union has stepped in and is looking for the Premier League, the FA or the Football League to get their hands on the matter and prevent major incidents from tarnishing the prestige of not only Liverpool and Chelsea but the entire league in England.
