The Reds legend does not see the Ecuadorian midfielder as a clear option for reinforcement

Since the start of the 2022-2023 season there has been a lot of talk about Liverpool's shortcomings in midfield and what their main options are for improvement in that area of the pitch, with almost everyone around the team coming to the conclusion that Jude Bellingham is the man to try and deal with those problems that have been so detrimental to Klopp's approach to a game.

It is true that after Bellingham's great performance at the World Cup, no one is refusing this promising signing, but just as on Merseyside the Englishman is very much wanted, at Real Madrid the idea of having this Borussia Dortmund player goes hand in hand with the needs of the Spaniards, The question arises as to who will win the battle for the midfielder and who will have to look for other options on the market, with Klopp and his people already ahead with plan "B" called Moisés Caicedo, a Brighton player who seems not to have convinced everyone at Anfield.

One of the main opponents to the signing of the South American midfielder is ex-footballer Jamie Carragher, who once again expressed his opinion about the club's need in the midfield and stressed the desire for Bellingham to be part of the group as soon as possible, adding to his words an advice that goes around the signing of a midfielder with more defensive characteristics, giving as the only option the A.S. Roma player, Georginio Wijnaldum. "Liverpool need two midfielders. Jude Bellingham and another, more defensive midfielder, a Gini Wijnaldum type."

While there is some consistency in Carragher's words in wanting a more defensive player for his former team, the reality is that his proposal to have the Dutch midfielder does not look so promising if you take into account the generational leap Klopp is trying to gradually make with the squad, or Gini's age issue being 32 years old, with only his vast experience in Europe and knowledge of the team being his main attraction at the moment.

Carragher prefers Bellingham

Jamie Carragher's comments made the fans of the red team also express their opinion on social networks, with the vast majority agreeing that it was a mistake to have let Georginio Wijnaldum leave when he proved to be a very regular player during the five seasons he was on Merseyside, but even though the Dutchman is remembered for his great quality, times have changed and the goal of the coach is betting on the youth of certain players already consolidated in the old continent, being Moisés Caicedo for his background and his cost a very viable option.
