The 17-year-old striker would have Jürgen Klopp very impressed thanks to his strong performances in pre-season

Liverpool youth striker Ben Doak could have earned himself a place in the first team for next season according to journalist Neil Jones, who detailed in his weekly column for Caught Offside that the 17-year-old has Jürgen Klopp and several senior players in the squad very impressed thanks to his performances during pre-season.

Although he is very young, Jürgen Klopp has shown that he is not afraid to use players of that age, as Trent Alexander-Arnold also made his debut at a very young age and is now established as a star in the team, so it would not be unusual to see Doak in the first team next season.

"I'll be interested to see now who gets their chance after Jurgen Klopp used 25 players in their last two [friendly] games. Obviously you'd expect some of those players to now drop out, but I think some younger players have really stood out, and none more so than Ben Doak," the Liverpool specialist wrote in his column.

Ben Doak has featured in Liverpool's first two games and several of his teammates are very impressed with the level he has shown which, according to the journalist, could earn him a place in the first team.

Ben Doak's role in the first team

According to Neil Jones, it remains to be seen what role he will have if he finally earns a place in the first team, but the journalist claims that we might get a clue by seeing how Klopp uses him on the team's tour of Japan. "He's established himself quickly and it was interesting to see players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister getting on the ball and looking for Doak." he said.
