The official opening of transfer windows throughout Europe has sparked an uptick in rumors. Although Cody Gakpo has already been acquired by Liverpool, there is still debate about whether the midfield will be strengthened however, players other than midfielders have also been mentioned in relation to a move to Anfield. 

One of the most recent rumors claims that one of the World Cup's breakthrough players is being pursued by both Liverpool and Manchester United although it is unclear whether Liverpool will be persuaded to take action, reinforcements for the park's center have also been proposed as a possibility.
