He made history.

This Wednesday Liverpool had the challenge of getting a win against Southampton at Anfield Road to advance to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Although their opponents are of a lower quality than them, considering they play in the Championship, the match had a high level of difficulty for them. This is because there are a lot of injured players in the squad which made Jurgen Klopp's job even more complicated.

Klopp's unexpected comparison: who does Jayden Danns play like?

The German coach had to find solutions despite the absence of stars such as Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Alisson Becker. And for that he decided to rely on many young players who have barely played a few games as professionals.

In fact, the starting lineup included five players aged 20 or younger: Conor Bradley, James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Harvey Elliott and Louie Koumas. They were joined by others who came off the bench, such as Kaide Gordon and Jayden Danns. The latter caught everyone's attention with his two goals, but there was another youngster who made history: Treymaurice Nyoni.

The midfielder came on 32 minutes into the second half in place of Harvey Elliott wearing the number 98 shirt and those few minutes were enough to break a 131-year-old record. He became the youngest player in Liverpool's history to appear in an FA Cup match, at just 16 years and 243 days. Jurgen Klopp undoubtedly has faith in his talent and felt it was the ideal opportunity to give him a place in the team and allow him to make his dreams come true.

What will happen in the near future?

While Liverpool's performances with all those young players on the pitch were satisfactory, the manager must be looking forward to the injured players recovering as soon as possible. In the near future there will be key matches in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League, and there the contribution of the squad's stars will be needed.
