Since his arrival on Merseyside, Darwin Nunez has been the subject of much speculation with what he has shown in Portugal. During his first season with the Reds he did not perform as expected despite scoring 14 goals. This was no reason for Núñez to win the affection of the fans, who for the most part supported the work of the Uruguayan, who earned the trust of Jürgen Klopp.

Many knew of his potential and while some criticised his transfer fee, Nunez continued to work on his adaptation, which would make him improve, and this has been the case. Working alongside Jürgen Klopp the results are starting to be more positive and his level continues to improve, so this second half of the season will be much better for Nunez.

The match against Bournemouth was a complex game during the first half, as the Cherries had more possession of the ball than the Reds. In the second half, Darwin Nuñez showed no mercy and in the 49th minute, he fired home from a good assist from Diogo Jota to put Liverpool in front.

Together with the Portuguese Jota and Darwin they were responsible for leading the team to victory, as they were the ones who contributed in the first goal which gave them enough confidence to win and score with goals from the Uruguayan and the Portuguese. So now Nunez has become a favourite of many Reds fans and this was demonstrated at the end of the game against Bournemouth.

After the Reds' fourth goal and Darwin Nunez's second goal of the season, Liverpool fans began chanting "You're an asshole Andy Carroll!" in response to the Cherries fans' insults of Darwin Nunez who were chanting the same at the Uruguayan. So the fans would be demonstrating the great affection they now have for Nunez and will not let him be insulted.
