Over the years, teams like Liverpool have come across former players who once had some kind of influence on the team, all of whom are obviously remembered for their dedication and sacrifice during their time on Merseyside. The Reds are about to experience this with the visit of Nottingham Forest, who bring among their players striker Divock Origi, a player who a few years ago was one of the most important players in the attack.
Although Divock's numbers were not the most splendid during his two spells on Merseyside, this player did have his best moment as a footballer in this institution, achieving between the 2018-2019 and 2021-2022 campaigns a total of 41 goals in 175 games, earning him these figures to reach a value of approximately 20 million euros for the summer of 2019.
After Origi was valued at almost 20 million euros between June and December 2019, the Belgian and Kenyan-born striker had a rapid decline to 12 million euros by 2021, leaving him to join A.C Milan where his numbers continued to drop to 6 million euros, a figure he is now worth with Nottingham Forest in his first season.
The truth is that his lack of effectiveness in front of goal has cost him the player the credibility of the teams in which he has played after his departure from the Reds, having this weekend the opportunity to find his first goal with Nottingham Forest against Liverpool, a club that has a certain appreciation for his great commitment throughout almost 7 seasons distributed between 2015 and 2022.
Although there is no real reason why Divock may not see action in Sunday's game against the Reds, perhaps he could be left out of his manager's plans if the game strategy for this match is focused more on trying to defend a score that gets them points, with perhaps a very defensive version of Forest not opening up opportunities for attack-focused changes, with Origi being used recurrently as a second-half substitute.
