Our Liverpool is living very complicated days, as not one but two of his big targets to reinforce the team have rejected the opportunity to come to Anfield, leaving very bad for the board that will now have to look for more reinforcements against the clock as the transfer market is just under two weeks to end.
Just a few hours ago it was reported that Romeo Lavia, who had been Liverpool's top target for weeks, has decided to accept Chelsea's offer and turn down the Reds', despite the fact that the Anfield board put more money on the table for Southampton to sign the 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder.
Liverpool fans still can't believe what has happened, because in two days two signings that seemed to be practically tied with us, have ended up with the London team and it is still not well understood the reasons why both players decided to opt for a project that did not even offer them the possibility of playing in European competitions unlike our Liverpool. However, it seems that journalist Paul Joyce has revealed Romeo Lavia's reason for rejecting the biggest and most important team in England.
According to Paul Joyce, Romeo Lavia was disappointed that for weeks Liverpool would not match Southampton's asking price of £50m even though they had the money to do so. "It could be that Lavia feels let down by Liverpool's willingness to ditch him last week and go all in for Caicedo. However, the decision to join Chelsea who are signing Caicedo does not appear to make too much sense" wrote Joyce. In other words, the Anfield board have been to blame for the fact that in the end neither of Klopp's two main targets have arrived at our club this summer.
