Liverpool spent 112 million in transfers and could not beat last season's eleventh (video)

Liverpool's first game of the 2023-2024 season took place against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and Jürgen Klopp's team managed to get a one-goal draw, earning our first away point in the Premier League.

However, the Reds' main weakness was present as Chelsea managed to hurt us since our defensive line does not seem to be up to the task or perhaps they do not have the necessary chemistry, as the Blues managed to tie the game in the 37th minute with a goal scored by Axel Disasi who took advantage of Trent Alexander-Arnold's lack of concentration to equalize the score. Moments later, the Blues scored the second in their favor with another sign of how weak the Reds' defense is, but fortunately it was disallowed for offside.

The dominance of the match alternated between the two teams, although we must admit that Alisson Becker saved us from conceding a couple more goals, and Liverpool's offense did not generate as many dangerous plays, although it is undoubtedly the area of the field that looks best for us. However, it is clear that there is frustration among some of our players who do not agree with some of Klopp's decisions, for example Salah left the pitch very upset after being substituted.

Refereeing errors against Liverpool

There were two plays that exemplified that the refereeing on this day was not the best of all. The first was a handball inside the box by Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, but the referee decided not to award a penalty. He also booked Jota and Mac Allister in plays that he should not have done, and that generated the annoyance of Jürgen Klopp.
