Van Dijk legend, scored title-winning goal at Wembley to give Liverpool a title

Liverpool's historic night at Wembley on Sunday saw them win the Carabao Cup after beating Chelsea 1-0 in extra time thanks to Virgil Van Dijk's goal to win their first trophy of the season despite eleven injuries.

The Dutch defender scored and even celebrated Liverpool's winning goal. However, the VAR spotted an offside call for alleged involvement of Wataru Endo. Was it? Liverpool were 1-0 up against Chelsea when Virgil Van Dijk headed home from Andy Robertson's set-piece cross. It was all celebration at Wembley for the Reds players, staff and fans. However, the VAR appeared and disallowed the goal for an alleged offside by Japan's Wataru Endo. Controversy broke out in the Carabao Cup final.

It was on the quarter-hour mark of the second half when a fine cross from Robertson found its way to the penalty spot. Van Dijk appeared alone to head the ball against Dorde Petrovic's post for 1-0. It was celebration and madness at Wembley for Jürgen Klopp's side.

However, after the celebration and when they were about to take the ball out of the middle, referee Chris Kavanagh was called by the VAR. John Brooks saw Endo offside when he kicked Robertson's free-kick. The Japanese curled the ball past one of Chelsea's defenders, Levi Colwill, for Van Dijk to head in alone.

Kavanagh ruled offside and the game continued 0-0 to the surprise and disbelief of all present, especially on the Reds' side.
