Liverpool Consider Bryan Mbeumo as Potential Replacement for Mo Salah
In recent days, both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have been linked with moves to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, while there have also been rumours surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s potential move to Real Madrid when his contract expires. This leaves Liverpool looking for a true superstar to sign in the summer, both to replace the production of departing stars and to save face with fans. And it appears that their target may have been revealed.
Mbeumo Considered by Liverpool
One name that has stood out in the Premier League over the last 18 months is Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford's standout player. Mbeumo has netted 17 goals and assists in 26 matches across all competitions this season, and according to Graeme Bailey and Rousing the Kop, the Cameroonian international is being considered for a summer move by Liverpool.
The report claims that Liverpool is “seriously considering” an approach for Mbeumo, who Brentford values at around £50-60 million.
Not Available in Winter, But Likely to Move Next Summer
Mbeumo is not available in the winter transfer window, but it is expected that he will leave the Gtech Community Stadium next summer.
Would Mbeumo Be a Good Replacement for Mo Salah?
Replacing Salah, one of the world’s top talents, is no easy feat. Several names have been suggested as potential replacements, including Takefusa Kubo, Antoine Semenyo, and now Mbeumo.
Mbeumo already has Premier League experience and has scored 22 league goals since the start of last season, more than Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Núñez combined.
A fee of around £50 million seems very reasonable, especially when compared to the £59 million that PSG just spent on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the £68 million that Manchester City is paying for Omar Marmoush.
Replacing the Egyptian king is an almost impossible task, but Mbeumo is a player who might be ready for the challenge.
While Salah’s departure from Anfield has not been confirmed, fans are hoping he stays for years to come. However, Bryan Mbeumo could be the man to replace him if his time in Merseyside comes to an end.
