World Impact, still not playing for Liverpool and Szoboszlai already humiliated Bellingham

Liverpool on Sunday announced the signing of Hungarian international midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old becomes the Reds' second signing ahead of the start of the 2023-2024 season. According to media reports, the Hungarian player, who has 32 international caps, has committed to the English club for five years and the release clause paid by the club is 70 million euros ($76.3 million).

Szoboszlai's talent was spotted as a 15-year-old by Red Bull Salzburg. He went on to develop his career at Liefering, the club that acts as Salzburg's subsidiary, before moving to the first team in May 2018. Two and a half years, 83 appearances and 26 goals later, the midfielder continued his rise by joining RB Leipzig in January 2021. He scored 20 goals and provided 22 assists in 91 appearances for that Bundesliga side.

Szoboszlai becomes the Reds' second signing for the new season, following the signing of Argentine world champion Alexis Mac Allister, who previously played for Brighton. Liverpool will be looking to reinvent themselves in the new year after an inconsistent season last term in which they failed to even qualify for Europe's premier club competition, the Champions League.

The humiliation of Bellingham

Although Liverpool were initially interested in Jude Bellingham, that is now all in the past and now it's all hope for Szoboszlai, who has already humiliated the Real Madrid player. Journalist Ben Bocsak said that the Hungarian is a better signing than Bellingham: “For half that price, Liverpool might be able to sign a midfielder who is not only more versatile, but has several more advantages over Bellingham this summer in Dominik Szoboszlai.”
