While Real Madrid paid 130 million for Bellingham, what Liverpool will pay for Khephren Thuram

Real Madrid made official on Wednesday the signing of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund until 2029. Dortmund had already announced last week an agreement in principle for the English midfielder's transfer to Real Madrid for 103 million euros ($110 million), plus bonuses of up to 30 per cent of that amount.

The new Real Madrid signing will be unveiled at a ceremony at Real Madrid's training centre on Thursday lunchtime, after Bellingham was ruled out of the England squad through injury. The England FA announced on Sunday that Bellingham would miss the 2024 European Championship qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia because of a hamstring problem.

The arrival of Bellingham, 19, will allow the Merengues to continue the revamp of their midfield, which has been ageing with 30-year-olds Luka Modric (37) and Toni Kroos (33). Bellingham's signing follows on from the signings of Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni, 23, in 2022 and Eduardo Camavinga, 20, in 2021.

The amount

For Liverpool, one of the main priorities is to sign a holding midfielder to replace Fabinho, who has had a dismal season. The club has sounded out a myriad of names, from youngsters to more experienced players. However, it seems that they have chosen the priority target as they have presented a first offer for the signing of Khéphren Thuram for whom they would pay 30 million, which is a great deal compared to the 130 million Real Madrid are paying for Bellingham.
